SUD Director


SCOPE OF THE POSITION

  • Develops agency-wide strategy for state-of-the-art substance use disorders (SUDs) service delivery, design recommendations, care management and network development;
  • Provides key subject matter direction, best practices, emerging understandings on variety of circumstances including complex issues (pain management, special populations, co- occurring disorders, housing/boarding, etc.);
  • In coordination with clinical leaders and customers, formulates and executes pilots, demonstration initiatives to improve the quality of substance use services;
  • Consults with clients on strategies and opportunities for integration with healthcare delivery systems to identify and address co-occurring substance use disorders;
  • Provides guidance to MBI Health Services, LLC leadership to stimulate the identification, development of efficient and effective substance use disorder treatment providers;
  • Leads and supports the development of effective substance use provider partnerships, includes tactics and strategy for building capacity;
  • Provides leadership in SUD technology discovery, applications, implementation and initiatives, in concert with product development and clinical leadership team.
  • Identifies innovative programs and/or systems that create improved outcomes and functions accordingly to bring such services to the communities and markets served by MBI (e.g. Peer Recovery and other community-based services);
  • Promotes and educates on evidence-based practices with agency, providers and clients;
  • Develops SUD communication strategy, authors communication to members, to provide information aligned with agency SUD strategy regarding substance abuse treatment benefits, community treatment resources, MBI services, policies/procedures and criteria;
  • Participates in clinical staffing and other meetings and trainings as needed;

  • Provides education and training for case management and utilization management staff on integration of evidence-based substance use treatment principles into daily Clinical and Community Support Worker functions;
  • Participates in special committees or projects for program development as assigned by Executive Management Staff/Director;
  • Contributes to site specific audits/surveys/research projects that are relevant to SUD and care management process, policies and procedures;
  • Participates in on-going continuing education as required by professional licensure, certification, or as requested by MBI Health Services and maintains clinical licensure and certifications;
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures for Case Management and Utilization Management activities as well as screening, triage and referral activities, including timeliness of activities/services and accuracy of documentation;
  • Adheres to MBI Health Services, LLC Mission Statement, Core Values, Code of Business Conduct, and CARFA Compliance Program;
  • Complies with all Federal and applicable State laws and New Directions Behavioral Health Policies regarding, privacy, confidentiality, and security of health information, and other designated information; and,
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Master's degree in Social Work or Psychology from an accredited college or university;
  • Licensure in Washington, DC as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor;
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a behavioral health field;
  • Proficient in basic computer programs and/or willing to learn electronic records system applications;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Ability to work in a complex, detail-oriented, deadline structured busy organization;
  • Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) or obtain NPI, prior to employment start date;
Skilled diagnostician with excellent communication skills who is interested in working with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans from the point of first contact with our clients;
